Contrary to almost people’s belief, true black eyes seem not really to exist. Some, with a lot of melanin in their eyes, might appear to have black-colored eyes depending on the lightning conditions. However, that is not truly black, it’s simple the hue of a very dark brown. So can a person have black eyes?
When it comes to black eyes, a few say African and Asian have black eye color while others state humans eyes don’t come in black. What is the right opinion? One of the most surprising things about the black-colored pair of eyes is – true black eyes are extremely rare. Again, what we see and often call as black eyes are actually just very dark brown eyes. A black iris is uncommon. It might be theoretically possible to have one that is so dark looking black. Know what? Black eye color, I think, would be rarer than the red eye in albinos.
Black eyes appear completely black in normal conditions and normal light. If you happen to have black eyes, what does it mean?
Are there people with black eyes? The answer is yes in a way. The dark brown or black is often associated with night, mystery and intuition. It is said that people with black eyes are very trustworthy and responsible – they keep secrets like their life depended on it. They are secretive and will not open up to new faces until they feel comfortable. They are very passionate and loyal, especially to their friends. They are reliable and not affected by emotional upheaval. Black-eyed individuals also can withstand pressure and are not swept away by the tides of time and circumstance.
They sometimes mistrust people and are reluctant to start any relationship. But when they do fall in love, they fall hard till the very end. They are extremely hardworking and practical and will always give their best shot at whatever they are doing. They are said to be spiritual and intuitive and have the ability to tap into powerful energy. Passionate and optimists, these always know how to show their worth to others.
What causes black eyes?
Normally eye color is from a combination of two black and yellow pigments (called melanin) in the iris of your eye. If you have no melanin in the front part of the iris, you have blue eyes. An increasing proportion of yellow melanin combined with black melanin results in hues of between brown and blue. For a person to have black eyes, they would have to be lacking yellow melanin.
Unlike albinism which causes a lack of pigment, melanism causes too much pigment making people have dark skin – that is normally the natural gene pool of black eyes. As a fact, people of any nationality rarely have black eyes; however, there is a medical condition known as “aniridia,” which is a congenital condition characterized by an extremely underdeveloped iris appearing black.
